The San Diego Gulls are back for more with the Tucson Roadrunners tonight for round two of back-to-back games at Tucson Convention Center (7 p.m. PST).
Coming off Friday night’s commanding 4-0 shutout win over Tucson, San Diego is flying high into battle tonight for the final stand of the season in the Roadrunner’s building.
Last night’s historic win saw not only a strong start from the Gulls, who opened the scoring and grabbed a three-goal lead by the end of the first two periods, but also consistent focus as San Diego remained locked in through sixty minutes of play to keep Tucson off the board.
Gulls goaltender Tomas Suchanek was stellar in-net as he delivered a 26-save performance to become the first rookie Gulls goaltender to record three shutouts in a season. Captain Chase De Leo collected three assists to tie him for all-time points leader in franchise history with 67-114=181 points as a Gull.
San Diego’s power play stayed hot, Andrew Agozzino and Glenn Gawdin each capitalizing on the advantage Friday night.
Tonight, the Gulls break into battle determined to sustain Friday night’s focus and keep turning the tables on the Roadrunners as they hunt down a second win for the final game of March.
After tonight, San Diego prepares for a three-game set at home, kicking off with a mid-week matchup against the San Jose Barracuda on Wednesday, Apr. 3 at Pechanga Arena San Diego (7 p.m. PST).
