The San Diego Gulls showed the Barracuda what they’re made of tonight, defeating them 5-4 in overtime.
The Gulls stay hot with this win, improving to 9-2-1-1 over the last 13 games to keep up in the Pacific Division playoff hunt.
The first period saw Barracuda start off scoring, taking a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
Judd Caulfield netted his sixth goal of the season to get the Gulls on the board in the second, with an assist from Coulson Pitre. San Jose got ahead again with another goal, but the lead didn't last long after Yegor Sidorov netted his 14th goal of the season, assisted by Dillon Heatherington and Nico Myatovic.
To wrap up the action-packed middle frame, Jan Mysak scored the first of two goals on the night to knot the score at 3-3.
San Jose was back in the lead with a fourth goal with a little over 10 minutes left to play until Mysak got his second goal of the game, making tonight his first multi-goal game of the season.
At the end of regulation, the score was still tied 4-4, marking the second consecutive game that the Gulls have played the extra frame.
Ryan Carpenter scored the game-winning goal just over a minute into the five-minute overtime period, assisted by Justin Bailey and Ville Husso. Husso also stopped 30 shots on the night.
San Diego continues their road trip into the week where they take on the Ontario Reign at Toyota Arena (7 p.m. PST).
