The San Diego Gulls will look to get back on track today, as they face the San Jose Barracuda in a morning matchup at Tech CU Arena (10:30 a.m. PDT; TV: AHLTV on FloHockey; Radio: Gulls Audio Network).

San Diego fell to nine points out of the postseason picture over the weekend after dropping two games to the Colorado Eagles at home.  With roster shakeups, bad bounces and a sour taste after last weekend, the Gulls will look to continue their playoff push despite the setback.

"These games are obviously very important," assistant coach Kris Sparre said. "We’ve made up quite a gap from where we were after the break, so we’re happy with where we are. It was a tough weekend for sure. We thought the compete was there."

The Gulls have had a lot of success against the Barracuda this season, taking four of six games against the San Jose Sharks farm team so far in the eight-game season series (4-1-1-0).

"They’re a team that’s up there in the standings," forward Justin Bailey said. "We got to stay disciplined and keep Poturalski off the ice as much as we can. At the same time, I think we’ve done a really good job [against them]."

The Gulls received a notable reinforcement this week, as the Anaheim Ducks assigned 2024 first-round Draft pick Stian Solberg to San Diego from Farjestad BK of the Swedish Hockey League, A hard-hitting defenseman, Solberg should add some bite to the Gulls’ backend.

Following Wednesday’s matinee, the Gulls will head to Henderson for a pair of games with the Silver Knights beginning Friday evening (6 p.m. PDT).
