The San Diego Gulls will take on the San Jose Barracuda for the third time this season tonight at Pechanga Arena (6 p.m. PST; TV: AHLTV on FloHockey; Radio: Gulls Audio Network).

In their last meeting, the Gulls left San Jose victorious, 2-1. The matchup ended after a twelve-round shootout when Nathan Gaucher scored to bring home the win.

The Gulls saw success on home ice last week, as they defeated both the Henderson Silver Knights and Bakersfield Condors. A nail-biting game against the Ontario Reign saw the regulation end 1-1, but the Reign were ultimately successful by one point in a shootout.

"It’s nice to be getting the wins at home," assistant coach Kris Sparre said. "They deserve it, the fans, and they support us when things aren’t going well. For us to put together a couple of wins at home, it’s been great."

The team seems to have found their identity, and plan to use this to their advantage.

"We found an identity and the guys have upheld that standard," said Sparre. "What we do is hold them to that and hold them accountable. We know that they can play to that level."

"[San Jose] is a great, skilled team, great forwards," forward Pavol Regenda added. "We know how to play against them. We just have to eliminate the mistakes and bring a couple more goals. They’re a strong team."

Tonight’s contest is the Gulls’ final game of a four-game homestand. Next week, they will be on the road for four more games before Christmas against the Tucson Roadrunners and Colorado Eagles.

The Gulls go head-to-head with the Barracuda tonight before heading east to Tucson to face the Roadrunners on Monday night at the Tucson Convention Center (5:30 p.m. PST).
