The San Diego Gulls stayed hot on Friday night, taking down the Ontario Reign 3-2 in overtime at Toyota Arena.

The Gulls are now 10-2-1-1 over their last 14 games, the best record in the American Hockey League since the All-Star break. San Diego sits seven points out of playoff contention in the Pacific Division.

It was a slow start for San Diego, as Ontario scored the only goal of the opening frame. The Gulls managed just three shots on net in the first.

Roland McKeown jump-started the offense with about ten minutes left of the second period, netting the first San Diego goal of the night.

After Ontario scored their second, Yegor Sidorov tied it up again with his 15th goal of the season. He was assisted by Tyson Hinds and Josh Lopina, who tallied a two-assist game.

"It's all resiliency," said Lopina. "It's the belief that we're built for comebacks. We've shown it time and time again this year, handful of games being down two or three goals early in the game or going into the third period. We know we just find a way to scratch and claw back and come out and talk. It's been really fun."

With no scoring from either team in the final frame, the game transitioned into overtime.

For the second game in a row, Ryan Carpenter netted the game-winning goal in OT, giving him a league-leading four on the season.

Tonight was another exceptional show of skill from goaltender Oscar Dansk, who stopped 34 out of 36 shots.

"Because of Oscar, we weathered the storm," said head coach Matt McIlvane. "Oscar gave us an opportunity here today to find our game. I thought we were better in the second and we were able to put a couple on board. So gutsy, gutsy effort. Proud of the guys."

San Diego travels back home tomorrow night where they challenge the Reign once again (6 p.m. PST).
