The San Diego Gulls traveled to Ontario tonight to challenge the Reign, ultimately falling in a tight matchup 2-1.
The scoreboard stood still until halfway through the middle frame when the Reign scored two consecutive goals, taking the lead 2-0.
Sam Colangelo cut the score in half with his 20th goal of the season, assisted by Ryan Carpenter and Tristan Luneau. This makes him the third Gulls rookie in team history to record 20 goals in a season, joining Alex Limoges and Sam Steel.
Oscar Dansk was solid in net, making 26-of-28 saves, but ultimately took the loss, as Ontario’s Carter George stopped 27-of-28 San Diego shots.
The Gulls return to Pechanga Arena one last time this season to take on the Coachella Valley Firebirds this Friday for Fan Appreciation Night (6 pm PDT).
