Gulls Ready For Tilt With Ontario Reign

After a less-than-stellar effort on Friday night against Coachella Valley, the San Diego Gulls are looking to get back on track against the rival Ontario Reign tonight at Pechanga Arena San Diego (7 p.m. PT; TV: AHL TV; Radio: Gulls Audio Network).
Coming off a 5-1 loss to the Firebirds, head coach Matt McIlvane made it a focus in practice this week that he wanted his side to come out strong tonight. There was no stone left unturned as the Gulls look to regain the consistency that they found in the middle part of the season.
The Gulls last saw the Reign on March 1, where emotions boiled over in a 3-0 loss at Toyota Arena. The two teams have split the season series so far, as each side has three wins apiece. Tonight marks the final game between the two in San Diego, where the Reign have won two of three contests.
San Diego will have to adjust to not having Pavol Regenda in the lineup tonight, as the 24-year-old Slovakian forward was recalled by the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday. Regenda has torched the Reign this season, scoring four times in five contests against Ontario.
Calle Clang should get the nod in net after one of his best American Hockey League showings last Wednesday, where he stopped a career-high 38-of-41 shots against the Pacific Division-leading Firebirds.
The Gulls have a busy weekend ahead of them, as the Milwaukee Admirals will follow Ontario on Friday and Saturday night.
