The San Diego Gulls started strong but couldn’t reach their pot of gold Saturday night as they came up short 3-2 to the Milwaukee Admirals at Pechanga Arena San Diego.
The Gulls wasted no time jumpstarting the action as Andrew Agozzino struck at 1:28 in the opening frame, serving his 16th goal of the season on the power play (16-30=46).
Things got hot when the Admirals took advantage of the power play opportunity less than a minute later, as Wade Allison netted a goal of his own to tie up the score.
Like a four-leaf clover, goals were hard to find but lucky to come by in the middle frame. At 11:06, Sasha Pastujov managed to put San Diego on top as he deposited his sixth goal of the season (6-8=14).
Feeling green, Milwaukee used this as fuel to tie things up again, Joakim Kemel hitting the net at 2:04 to kick off the final frame with an even scoreboard.
At 6:58 in the third, the Admirals were handed their first one-goal lead of the night as Tye Felhaber struck the net to unknot the score.
It was a 25-save performance from Gulls goaltender Tomas Suchanek.
Trevor Carrick (6-28=34) and Chase De Leo (13-23=36) each picked up two assists on the evening.
The San Diego Gulls next hit the road as they take on the San Jose Barracuda at Tech CU Arena for a morning matchup on Wednesday, Mar. 20 (10:30 a.m. PST).
