Gulls Battle Iowa, Fall Short

The San Diego Gulls gave it their all this evening but were ultimately defeated by the Iowa Wild 7-5.
This is the second time in one week that these two teams have gone head-to-head. In their last matchup, San Diego was victorious 5-1.
Iowa opened up the scoring, netting two goals less than five minutes into the first period.
The first goal for the Gulls this evening came from Nico Myatovic, assisted by Dillon Heatherington and Tristan Luneau. Jan Mysak wasn’t too far behind, tying up the game 2-2 with a power play goal in the first, assisted by Sasha Pastujov and Carson Meyer.
Luneau put the Gulls in the lead to open the second frame. Assisted by Myatovic and Judd Caulfield, it marks his second goal and 12th point of the season. But the Wild managed to net two more during the second period, bringing the score to 4-3.
Carson Meyer got another for the Gulls, assisted by Mysak and Pastujov, bringing the score back to 5-4. Pastujov was able to net one more with less than thirty seconds left on the clock, but the Wild ultimately earned two points, ending the game with a final score of 7-5.
The San Diego Gulls return to Pechanga Arena this Saturday to face the Calgary Wranglers in the final matchup of their five-game homestand.
