The San Diego challenged the Iowa Wild for a Sunday afternoon rematch but were unsuccessful, falling 5-1 at Wells Fargo Arena.
On Friday, the Gulls fell 4-2 against the Wild. With five games left to play, San Diego isn’t letting any obstacles stop its quest for postseason hockey.
Iowa scored first in the opening frame and netted two more goals in the second, holding the 3-0 lead throughout the majority of the final frame.
Roland McKeown put the Gulls on the scoreboard with his 14th goal of the season, assisted by Sasha Pastujov and Tristan Luneau. This marks the most goals score by a defenseman in Gulls history.
Less than a minute later, the Wild scored their final two goals, winning the contest 5-1.
Tonight was the first AHL start for goaltender Damian Clara, who stopped 22 shots in net.
The Gulls have a five-day break before their major challenge against the Bakersfield Condors on Friday, April 11 (7 p.m. PDT).
