After their three-game win streak was halted in a 6-3 loss to Abbotsford on Wednesday, the San Diego Gulls are looking to get back on track tonight as they face the Iowa Wild at Wells Fargo Arena (5 p.m. PDT; TV: AHLTV on FloHockey; Radio: Gulls Audio Network).

The Gulls’ pursuit of postseason hockey is still alive, as they sit five points back of the final playoff slot in the Pacific Division. They’ll need some help in order to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2021-22, but the Gulls will need to take care of their business first against a lowly Iowa squad.

"It's one game at a time," assistant coach Kris Sparre said following Wednesday’s game. "We drop one tonight. The sky isn't falling. We pick ourselves back up and we get right back to work."

Friday’s game marks the first of a four-game road swing following the Gulls’ final homestand of the 2024-25 season. With new faces in the fray, it’ll be a good opportunity for team bonding as new players are thrown right into the heat of the postseason push.

"We got to find that sync right away," defenseman Roland McKeown said. "It's common in the American League to have new guys come in, college guys and junior guys are finishing up, and it'll be nice to grab dinner [with] fresh faces, but at the same time, these are the biggest games of our season, so it's a business trip."

The Gulls are getting production from all over the lineup. Both Nico Myatovic and Jan Mysak are riding four-game point streaks, while Ian Moore has four points in his last four contests (1-3=4).

"We've played a lot of really, really good hockey as of late," Sparre said. "We have guys that are going to respond. We know that at this point in the season, we'll expect a big night in Iowa."

The Gulls will run it back with the Wild Sunday afternoon in Des Moines (1 p.m. PDT).
