Fresh off a 4-0 victory last night, the San Diego Gulls are ready to run it back with the Henderson Silver Knights this afternoon at Lee’s Family Forum (1 p.m. PDT; TV: AHLTV on FloHockey; Radio: Gulls Audio Network).
"It's going to take a very concentrated effort," head coach Matt McIlvane said. "I'm sure that everything doesn't feel perfect in your body on a quick back-to-back like that. You can't really think about that, you just got to keep pushing forward."
Last night saw standout performances from several Gulls, including Ville Husso, who pitched his fourth shutout of the season after stopping all 25 shots in net.
Nico Myatovic also had himself a game, posting his first professional multi-goal game to help the Gulls break an offensive drought.
"It was a big, big weight off the shoulders," Myatovic said. "We were looking for ways to create offense the past few games. So, it was good that the flood gates finally opened."
Carsen Twarynski netted his first goal as a Gull, a power-play tally. He later added an assist for his first multi-point of the season.
After Husso’s stellar showing last night, he’ll likely take a back seat to Oscar Dansk, who has been equally as exceptional since the turn of the year.
After today’s game, the Gulls will flock back to San Diego for their final extended homestand of the season, beginning with a midweek matchup with the San Jose Barracuda on Wednesday night (7 p.m. PDT).
