The San Diego Gulls fell to the Henderson Silver Knights 4-3 in a shootout tonight at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.

Pavel Dorofeyev scored the game-winning shootout tally and rookie goaltender Dillon Kelley - making his American Hockey League debut - stopped all three San Diego shooters to net Henderson the crucial second point. It also marks the first win against the Gulls for the Silver Knights this season.

Alex LimogesTrevor Carrick and Bryce Kindopp scored in regulation for the Gulls, who extended their point streak to five games (4-0-0-1). The win keeps them in the seventh and final playoff position in the Pacific Division, five points ahead of the eighth-place San Jose Barracuda.

Overtime Recap

Kelley played overtime hero, shutting down the Gulls on a 4-on-3 power-play opportunity in the extra session. The Henderson goaltender turned aside all seven shots he saw, including a reaching glove save to deny Danny O'Regan in tight.

This marks the first overtime session between the two Pacific Division opponents. San Diego is undefeated against Henderson this season, winning all five previous matchups in regulation.

Third Period Recap

San Diego failed to maintain its second-period lead, seeing Henderson tie the game in just under four minutes in the final frame.

Dorofeyev brought Henderson within one, converting on a second-chance opportunity at 2:05 of the final frame.

Jake Leschyshyn tied the game, tipping a Jonas Rondbjerg shot past Olle Eriksson Ek at 5:57 of the period. Both players have multi-point performances, with each recording a goal and assist.

Second Period Recap

San Diego's power play found its footing in the middle frame, turning a one-goal deficit into a one-goal lead.

Limoges scored a power-play goal to bring San Diego even at 8:20 of the first period.

The forward kept the puck in at the blue line, finding the oncoming Nikolas Brouillard with a cross-ice pass. His point shot was blocked, but the puck found Limoges in slot, who whipped an attempt past Kelley for his 13th goal of the season.

Limoges collected his seventh point (1-6=7) in his last six games while Brouillard extended his point streak (4-3=7) to five games.

Perreault, who collected the secondary assist, has 2-7=9 points in his last 11 games.

Carrick put San Diego ahead with his man-advantage tally with 7:03 remaining in the period. The defenseman picked off a Henderson clearing attempt, carrying the puck into the low slot before firing a shot past Kelley for his ninth goal of the season.

Kindopp scored seconds after a San Diego power play, extending the lead to two with 3:33 left in the period.

O'Regan gathered the rebound of a Carrick shot behind the net, looking to move the puck out front from below the goal line. His pass hit the skate of Henderson's Ben Jones and found an open Kindopp in the slot, who buried his chance past Kelley for his ninth goal of the season.

Carrick has a multi-point performance (1-1=2) and 3-1=4 in his last five games. Kindopp has points in back-to-back games and 2-2=4 points in his last four games.

First Period Recap

Rondbjerg opened the scoring at 9:35 of the opening period, converting on a loose puck in front of Eriksson Ek. Henderson defenseman Zack Hayes floated a shot toward the net, where the puck hit Leschyshyn and sat loose in front. Rondbjerg eventually dug out the rebound and stuffed it into the net for his 12th goal of the season.

It marks the first time the Silver Knights scored the first goal in this season series.

Eriksson Ek kept Henderson from extending its lead, ranging to the right to stop an excellent scoring chance from Dorofeyev with under a minute left in the frame. He finished the first period with six saves.

The Swedish netminder enters tonight off his first American Hockey League shutout, stopping 22 shots in a 4-0 win over the Ontario Reign on Mar. 12. Eriksson Ek is 5-11-1 with one shutout, a 3.29 goals-against average (GAA) and .883 save percentage (SV%).

Kelley, making his AHL debut, stopped all three shots he saw. The Petoskey, MI native played in 11 ECHL games with Kansas City and Rapid City, posting a 9-0-0 record. He also spent time with the SPHL's Macon Mayhem, going 2-9-0 with a 3.06 GAA and .913 SV%.
