The San Diego Gulls put on an impressive display against the Colorado Eagles for First Responders Night, but ultimately fell 3-1.
These two teams last met in December, where the Eagles took the win in both previous contests. The Eagles currently sit in the first place spot in the Pacific Division.
The Gulls took the lead early with a goal from Ryan Carpenter eight minutes into the opening frame. Assisted by Justin Bailey and Roland McKeown, this is his eighteenth goal of the season.
After a scoreless second period, these two teams headed into the final frame with a tied score of 1-1. The Eagles netted two consecutive goals early in the third.
With the score now being 3-1, the Gulls fought through the rest of the third period. Ultimately, the score remained untouched and the Eagles walked away victorious.
The Gulls and Eagles return to Pechanga Arena tomorrow night for their second night of back-to-back contests (6 p.m. PST).
