The San Diego Gulls came up short 5-1 against the Colorado Eagles tonight at Blue Arena.
This evening’s contest was the first meeting between these two teams this season. The Gulls will face Colorado three more times this season.
The first and second period saw one goal each from Colorado. Center Jan Mysak earned San Diego’s only goal of the night during the third period, assisted by Tyson Hinds and Roland McKeown, Mysak’s fifth point and second goal in five games.
Ultimately, the Eagles grabbed two more, both on the power play, and an empty net goal in the third, bringing the score to a final of 5-1.
Tonight marks the final contest of the Gulls’ four-game road trip before a holiday break.
"It's one final push," said assistant coach Kris Sparre. "It's a quick game tomorrow, then we go into the break. And if you look at the first part of our season, you know, there's been a lot of good. Honestly there has been for different reasons. We have found ways to not win as many games as we would have liked to, but there's certainly growth within the team, and it would be great to get that one tomorrow… [we’ll] leave it all on the table.
The Gulls will face the Eagles once again tomorrow afternoon at Blue Arena (2:05 pm PST).
