Gulls Aim to End Road Trip on High Note

The San Diego Gulls are ready to close out their 2024 road schedule with their final away game of the calendar year today against the Colorado Eagles at Blue Arena (2:05 p.m. PST; TV: AHLTV on FloHockey; Radio: Gulls Audio Network).
San Diego will look to enter the holiday break on a high note, as they’ve dropped the first three games of their four-game road trip this week.
"It's one final push," assistant coach Kris Sparre said after last night’s game. "It's a quick game tomorrow, three o'clock, then we go into the break. And if you look at the first part of our season, you know, there's been a lot of good. Honestly there has been for different reasons. We have found ways to not win as many games as we would have liked to, but there's certainly growth within the team, and it would be great to get that one tomorrow."
Scoring has been a little sparse for the Gulls so far on their road trip, as they have just two goals in three games. Despite some bad puck luck and running into hot goaltenders, San Diego will look to alleviate their woes this afternoon.
"Those guys are gripping the stick tight," Sparre said. "They all want to score. They want to do a good job for us. Matt [McIlvane] likes to use the expression ‘shake the ketchup bottle.’ Once a little bit starts coming out, I think you're going to see a lot more going in the net for us."
Jan Mysak netted the lone goal for the Gulls last night, his fourth of the season. Mysak is currently on a hot streak, collecting 2-3=5 points over his last five games.
After Oscar Dansk made 30 saves in net yesterday, it should be Calle Clang’s crease with the short turnaround.
The Gulls will return to action on Dec. 27 with a home-ice showdown against the Ontario Reign at Pechanga Arena (7 p.m. PST).
