The San Diego Gulls concluded the 2024-25 season on a high note tonight, defeating the Coachella Valley Firebirds 5-4.

Playing in front of a sold-out crowd of over 12,000 people, the Gulls made tonight a night to remember for Fan Appreciation Night.

Coachella opened the scoring, but the Gulls quickly caught up with a goal from Sam Colangelo. Assisted by Jan Mysak, this marks his 21st goal and 37th point of the season.

Tristan Luneau gave the Gulls a leg up in the middle frame with San Diego’s second goal, unassisted. This is his eighth goal and 50th point of the season.

The Firebirds made it another tie soon after, but Nico Myatovic didn’t let them keep it for long. Making the score 3-2 in favor of the Gulls, this marks his 10th goal and 19th point of the season, assisted by Mysak and Colangelo.

Coachella Valley scored again, but Luneau wowed the crowd when he scored his second goal of the night, his first multi-goal game of the season. The Firebirds also netted their fourth of the night.

These two teams were tied 4-4 with less than ten minutes left to play. After no more goals, this contest was heading into overtime.

Less than a minute into the five-minute overtime period, Colangelo scored the game-winner, his fourth point of the night (2-2=4).

After a season filled with grit and determination, the San Diego Gulls are exiting the 2024-25 season as winners.
