Gulls Ready for Firebirds in Home Opener

The San Diego Gulls finally get to play on their own ice at their Home Opener presented by Cal Coast Credit Union tonight against the Coachella Valley Firebirds at 7:00 p.m. PT at Pechanga Arena San Diego.
Friday night will be the first chance for Gulls fans to watch their favorite team at home.
This long-awaited home game follows two tough losses to the Toronto Marlies on the road over the weekend. The Gulls came close to the Marlies in the first game, narrowly losing 3-4. Sunday was a tougher loss, with the Gulls coming up short 4-1.
The team won’t let the losses stop them. Defenseman Tyson Hinds, who scored the only goal on Sunday, has high hopes for the Gulls.
"[Friday] is going to be fun," Hinds said. "We’re going to be ready. [We’re] going to be more disciplined."
Assistant coach Kris Sparre noted that the team did play well and is also ready to see the team succeed come Friday.
"I’m already excited," Sparre said. "Friday we’ll be ready to go."
There’s more good news for fans: the Gulls have once again partnered with Mason Ale Works to launch the new Light the Lamp Lager. A signature beer available all season long, this new partnership will be offered at Pechanga for $5 Beer Night every Friday home game. Fans will also have the chance to take home a limited-edition Home Opener special beer can.
Friday’s game comes in the wake of the Gulls’ season-ending win over the Firebirds last season, winning 4-3 in a shootout in April. Having America’s finest fans cheering them on in America’s finest city, the Gulls are sure to bring home a win.
