San Diego Falls Short to Calgary
Jan 25, 2025By Samantha Mason/SanDiegoGulls.com
San Diego arrived in Calgary tonight ready to put up a good fight but ultimately fell 7-5.
This comes in the wake of an excitingly close game last week, where the Wranglers won in overtime. Calgary has taken all five games of the eight-game season set so far.
The Gulls took the lead early, with Carson Meyer netting the first goal of the night, assisted by Tristan Luneau and Jan Mysak. Not too far behind was Luneau again, scoring the second goal, and San Diego led the charge 2-0 as the first period came to a close.
This momentum was maintained when Sam Colangelo got the third goal for the Gulls.
The Wranglers caught up quickly, taking the lead with four goals in the second frame. Sasha Pastujov didn’t let them have it for long and tied up the game 4-4 just before the clock ran out in the second period.
Colangelo put one more in the back of the net, but Calgary ultimately ended up with three more goals during the third period, ending the game with a final score of 7-5.
Five different Gulls ended the night with multiple points with Luneau (1-3=4), Pastujov (1-2=3), Carpenter (1-1=2), Colangelo (1-1=2) and Mysak (0-2=2) all collecting multi-point efforts.
The Gulls return once again tomorrow afternoon for a rematch against the Wranglers at 12:00 pm PST.
