The San Diego Gulls are gearing up to face the Calgary Wranglers this afternoon, completing their three-game run against them.
Last night, the Gulls fell short in an action-packed contest, 7-5. San Diego scored first and held an early lead, before the matchup was tied and Calgary took the score back later in the game.
Last night also marked right wing Justin Bailey’s first game as a San Diego Gull, and the return of Sam Colangelo and Nikita Nesterenko after their time playing with the Anaheim Ducks.
"We know we can play with this team, we’ve showed it over and over again," said assistant coach Kris Sparre. "If we could just do it for three periods, it would be very exciting to see. We’ve shown spurts of it throughout the last two games and we have to find a way to play a complete hockey game."
The Gulls return to Pechanga Arena next weekend to compete against the Toronto Marlies on Wednesday night (7:00 pm PST).
