The San Diego Gulls are ready for a rematch against the Calgary Wranglers tonight at the Scotiabank Saddledome (5 p.m. PT; TV: AHLTV on FloHockey; Radio: Gulls Audio Network).
On Tuesday, the Gulls fell short 3-4 against the Wranglers in the penultimate game of their road trip.
Right wing Sam Colangelo noted that the game "was probably the best game [they’ve] played for 60 minutes so far." Colangelo scored a goal for the second straight game, giving him four this season. He co-leads all AHL rookies in goals and paces San Diego Skaters.
Tyson Hinds, Jan Mysak, and Jansen Harkins all found the back of the net as well. Calle Clang stopped 21 shots, and Roland McKeown, Pavol Regenda, and Dillon Heatherington all picked up assists in the contest. The team hopes to keep this same momentum for the upcoming game.
"Going into Thursday, I think that there’s a lot of positives we’re going to bring with us," Colangelo said. "[We’ll] just try to keep building every game and get better and hopefully get in the win column on Thursday."
The Halloween game will be the last road game in Canada before heading back to San Diego.
Assistant coach Kris Sparre is also focusing on the positives following a strong showing from his group.
"The guys deserved a way better fate," Sparre said. "We’ll definitely be looking to take those positives into the next game."
