The San Diego Gulls are heading to Arizona to face the Roadrunners tonight at the Tucson Convention Center Arena (6 p.m. PT; TV: AHLTV on FloHockey; Radio: Gulls Audio Network).

The Gulls beat the Abbotsford Canucks 6-4 on Sunday night, winning on home ice at Pechanga Arena for the first time in 2024-25. The game saw a vast improvement from the Gulls, who scored five of their six goals in the third period alone, matching the franchise record for most goals in the final frame.

But the excitement didn’t end there, as defenseman Rodwin Dionicio scored his first AHL career goal, and center Jansen Harkins picked up five assists, setting a new single-game record in assists and matching the single-game record in points for the Gulls.

"That was the change that we needed," assistant coach Kris Sparre said. "As a group, we have to have that killer instinct… [Sunday’s win] was our starting point, and now it’s time to run with it."

This will be the Gulls’ first meeting with the Roadrunner this season. In their final meeting last season, Tucson took the win 3-2. The Gulls are back and ready to win.

"[Sunday] was a big win for us. I think moving into next week, it’s a stepping stone for us to keep moving forward and keep winning," right wing Coulson Pitre said. Pitre collected his first two pro points and assists during Sunday’s game, including the primary assist on Sam Colangelo’s game-winning goal.

The team has clearly found its spark and is ready to go head-to-head with the Roadrunners.

"I think we’ll surprise them and keep our energy going," Pitre said. "I think we can match [Tucson] and even better them. I think the team we have right now is an excellent team."

San Diego will face Tucson at 6:00p.m. PST on Saturday evening, and again on Sunday afternoon.
