Gulls Prepare for Third Match Against Abbotsford

The San Diego Gulls will once again face the Abbotsford Canucks at Pechanga Arena this Saturday, November 2 at 6:00 p.m. PST.
Saturday and Sunday’s home games will mark the third and fourth time these two teams go head-to-head this season. The Gulls have had one loss and one victory over the Canucks already.
Their first meeting saw San Diego fall short, losing 1-3, but they were victorious the next day, coming out on top 4-1. There are high hopes that the Gulls will carry this victory into this weekend’s games.
Saturday’s game follows the Gulls’ two losses to the Calgary Wranglers at the end of October. Right wing Sam Colangelo scored for the third consecutive game, while fellow right wing Carson Meyer netted his third goal of the season.
Center Jansen Harkins successfully recorded his fifth point in three games, with left wing Pavol Regenda earning his team-leading sixth assist of the season. Left wing Nikita Nesteranko earned his third assist this season. Oscar Dansk stopped 36 shots from the Wranglers.
Head coach Matt McIlvane notes that this loss was "certainly a learning process."
"[Calgary] was quicker to the pucks, they won a lot of battles tonight and from our side that’s not the way we expect to play," McIlvane said.
"Obviously frustrating results tonight," Meyer said. "I think there’s a lot of positive takeaways from this, this road trip also, obviously some things to work on."
The Gulls will return home energized and ready to take on the Canucks this weekend.
"It’s going to be great to get back home, sleep in our own beds, get rested and get ready to play in front of the home crowd," Meyer said. "It’s been a while."
America’s finest fans will get to see their Gulls hopefully bring home another win on home ice this Saturday night at Pechanga Arena.
