Ducks Assign De Leo, Dotchin and Sherwood to San Diego

The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has reassigned center Chase De Leo, right wing Kiefer Sherwood and defenseman Jake Dotchin to the San Diego Gulls, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). In addition, San Diego has assigned left wing Jared Thomas to the Tulsa Oilers of the ECHL.

 

De Leo, 23 (10/25/95), recorded a +1 rating during his Anaheim debut in a 5-1 win on Mar. 30 at Edmonton. A native of La Mirada, CA, De Leo became the fourth Southern California native to play for the Ducks. De Leo, who was acquired from Winnipeg in exchange for Nic Kerdiles on June 30, 2018, has earned a +2 rating in three career NHL games with the Ducks and Jets.

 

Selected by Winnipeg in the fourth round (99th overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft, De Leo has collected 19-32=51 points with a +14 rating in 61 games with the Gulls this season. De Leo returns to San Diego leading the club in assists, while ranking second in points and goals.

 

Sherwood, 24 (3/31/95) has recorded 6-6=12 points with a +1 rating in 50 games with Anaheim this season. Signed as a free agent on Mar. 19, 2018, Sherwood earned his first career NHL point (assist) in his NHL debut on Oct. 3 at San Jose, and scored his first career NHL goal on Oct. 13 at Dallas. The 6-0, 194-pound forward has collected 6-11=17 points with a +14 rating in 24 games with San Diego this season.

 

Dotchin, 25 (3/24/94), recorded one assist with 39 PIM in 20 games with Anaheim this season. The 6-3, 210-pound defenseman has appeared in 103 career NHL games with the Ducks and Tampa Bay Lightning, earning 3-20=23 points with a +23 rating and 112 PIM. Signed as a free agent on Oct. 17, 2018, Dotchin has collected 4-2=6 points and a +7 rating in 15 games with San Diego this season.

 

Thomas, 25 (2/21/94), has gone scoreless in seven AHL games with San Diego and the San Antonio Rampage this season. The 6-1, 200-pound forward has appeared in eight career AHL games with the Gulls and Rampage. Acquired from San Antonio in exchange for future considerations on Jan. 3, Thomas has recorded 18-42=60 points with a +14 rating and 32 PIM in 49 games with Tulsa this season. Thomas returns to Tulsa leading the club in assists and second in points.
