San Diego fought hard against the San Jose Barracuda tonight, but ultimately came up short 4-3 in overtime.

San Jose scored first, but with less than a minute left on the first period, Sam Colangelo earned the Gull’s first goal of the night, assisted by Jan Mysak

"[I] felt like there was a lot of strong play in the first period, certainly not perfect play," said head coach Matt McIlvane. "Felt like there was a lot of strong play. Going down one-nothing is not the way you'd want to start. Being able to come back and even to score by the end of the first period is a great way to go into the locker room. So, we felt like we had a stronger start than we did against Bakersfield, for sure."

Nico Myatovic netted his second of the season, assisted by Roland McKeown and Tristan Luneau. The second period ended with San Diego leading 2-1.

A penalty shot from Mysak opened the third period, but San Jose caught up and forced overtime. This marks the sixth contest for the Gulls this season that has led into overtime play.

Ultimately, the Barracuda scored the winning goal in overtime.

"I think there was still a lot of good things [about tonight’s game]," said Mysak. "Even if we didn't get a result what we wanted, it was still decent game."

The Gulls fly the nest to take on the Ontario Reign and Coachella Valley Firebirds this weekend.
