The San Diego Gulls faced off against the Tucson Roadrunners in the second night of back-to-back contests, but ultimately fell short 4-2.
The loss comes after San Diego’s victory over Tucson last night, 3-2.
Tucson scored first, but Nico Myatovic netted the Gulls’ first goal of the night with less than ten seconds left in the first period to enter the break knotted at 1-1. Assisted by Coulson Pitre and Ryan Carpenter, it was his third goal and fifth point of the season.
Carson Meyer tied up the game with a goal during the second period, assisted by Sasha Pastujov and Tyson Hinds, his third goal in just as many games.
The Roadrunners managed to net two more in the third frame, ultimately taking home the win.
"I thought it was good," said assistant coach Kris Sparre. "I thought we played a pretty good style of hockey tonight, we’ve kind of found a type of identity that works for us, we seem to be sticking with it. I’m really impressed with the guys tonight. We had some really good chances in that hockey game. Their goalie, he was excellent tonight, that’s the bottom line. I’m proud of our guys on this back-to-back."
This Wednesday, the Gulls will take on the Iowa Wild to continue their homestand at Pechanga Arena (7 pm PST).
