The San Diego Gulls played an impressive three periods but ultimately couldn’t shake the Condors, coming up short 5-3.
This loss comes in the wake of the Gulls’ epic shootout win against the Ontario Reign last night.
The Condors held the lead through the first period. Jan Mysak and Nathan Gaucher netted one goal each to open the second period, tying the game at 2-2.
Sam Colangelo put the Gulls in the lead with his eleventh goal and twentieth point of the season not too soon after, assisted by Mysak and Sasha Pastujov.
"We’re just able to read off each other pretty well," Colangelo said. "Me and Sasha spent about a month down in Florida together, training this summer, and we're really close friends, and kind of makes it easy. Over the years, whether it was here, Anaheim college junior, you're playing with guys that you can get along with really well. I have no problem telling Sasha if he makes a mistake or he has no problem telling me. I think that's huge."
Bakersfield scored three during the third period, ultimately taking the game 5-3.
The Gulls continue their homestand against the San Jose Barracuda on New Years Day at Pechanga Arena (7 p.m. PST).
